West Sussex sport hit by weather yet again

It’s been an all-too-familiar story this season - sport across West Sussex has again been badly hit by the weather.

While farther afield it’s snow that’s put paid to football, rugby and other sport, in the south it’s the sheer amount of rain that’s left pitches unplayable.

The good news, though, is the day’s biggest sporting fixture in the area has survived - Chichester RFC’s second v first clash in London one south against East Grinstead. A huge crowd is expected at Oaklands Park for the 3pm kick-off.

Still with rugby, Bognor’s London three south west game at Hampshire Avenue was called off because of waterlogging.

To football, and in the Ryman premier division, the Rocks’ visit to Harrow was called off after a 10.15am pitch inspection - leaving them with a near-impossible number of games to fit in between now and the scheduled end of the season.

The Sussex League was also hit, with many matches postponed - the latest situation can be seen {http://www.scfl.org.uk/pages/fixturesandresults.html|here}. Games involving Chichester City, Pagham, Sidlesham and Barnham were among those to go.
