SELSEY have a new manager - and it’s their old manager.
The club are delighted to have lured Adam Hinshelwood back to the High Street Ground six months after he departed to become assistant boss at Ryman League outfit Burgess Hill.
Hinshelwood told the Observer he had wanted to return to a manager’s job and was pleased to be back.
He replaces Richard Towers, who resigned just a few months into his Selsey spell saying he didn’t feel ablew to give football his full commitment.
Hinshelwood had a successful season at Selsey last term, guiding the Blues to a mid-table Sussex division-one finish and the final of the RUR Charity Cup. Now he hopes to carry on the work he gave up when he left at the end of the campaign.
He said: “I enjoyed my time at Burgess Hill and learned a lot in a short time. I’m grateful to them for the opportunity and they were as good as gold about me coming back to Selsey. It was a tough decision.
“I want to be a manager and Selsey is a great club for me to carry on my learning curve. I enjoyed it here last season and was sorry to leave, and now I can look forward to getting stuck into the task again.”
Selsey have had an indifferent start to the season and lost 3-0 at Peacehaven on Tuesday - ironically in the competition in which Hinshelwood led them to the final last April.
They head to East Grinstead in the league on Saturday in fourth-from-bottom place then host Bognor in the Sussex Senior Cup next Tuesday.
Chairman David Lee said: “We’re very pleased to have Adam back and hope he can pick up where he left off. He will probably want to pull in one or two players to strengthen the squad. We look forward to working with him again.”
