Sussex-trained triple Fontwell Park winner Fruity O’Rooney heads to the Scottish Grand National at Ayr on Saturday with a real chance of landing one of horse racing’s biggest prizes.
The £180,000 race is run over a marathon trip of four miles and half a furlong.
The nine-year-old gelding, owned by Heart of the South Racing, has proved a stable star for Sussex trainer Gary Moore this season. He finished a close second in the JLT Specialty Chase at the Cheltenham Festival to Alfie Sherrin. He won a valuable race at Kempton Park’s Christmas meeting and finished third in the Skybet Chase at Doncaster.
Jamie Moore will be on board at Ayr.
