CHICHESTER Carers Support Group is having an open coffee morning on Tuesday, April 24 from 11am until 12.30pm.
The group, which meets regularly on the last Tuesday of the month at Marriot Lodge, Toll House Close, Chichester, offers mutual support and information for anyone who is looking after a friend, neighbour or relative who could not manage independently without their support.
People often think that if they are not directly involved in someone’s personal care or if they don’t live with the person then they are not a carer.
Louise Spong from the Carers Support Service said: “For many carers, having a local, confidential place to meet up with others who share a common bond, swap ideas and have some respite from their caring role is not only therapeutic but essential.”
She added: “What is important is that people who are providing care or support to someone else get the care and support that they need themselves, whether or not they are labelled a ‘carer’ by themselves or others.”
On April 24, one of Chichester District Council’s Wellbeing Advisers will be on hand to give advice and support on a wide range of health and wellbeing issues.
In addition, volunteer therapist Sarah Williams will be giving carers free hand massages. For more information please get in contact with Louise at the Carers Support Service on 01243 537011.
