A SPECIAL plaque detailing the history of the army has been reinstalled at the new housing development at Roussillon Barracks.

The barracks, formerly home to the Royal Military Police until 2005, is being transformed into a sustainable housing development of 250 dwellings.

And in an effort to make sure the site’s history is not lost under the new foundations the plaque has been installed on one of the new entrance pillars from Broyle Road,

Colonel Baber from the Royal Military Police and Colonel Arnold, President of the Royal Sussex Regimental Association did the honours at the unveiling ceremony last week.

The street plan for the development, which is being carried out by Zero C, was also announced. Names have been taken from Victoria Cross holders, important military personnel and figureheads associated with the barracks. For more information about the plans visit www.roussillonpark.co.uk
