STUDENTS at Bourne Community College organised a number of events to raise £1,200 for an animal charity in Eartham.
The students used their imagination to organise a sponsored bike ride, cake sales, a sponsored swim – and one student even cooked a meal for his family in exchange for donations.
The Year 7 students also held a raffle at the end of last term which contributed £200 to the total for Mount Noddy Animal Centre.
Paul Johnson, assistant site manager, and Phil Harper, RE teacher, were instrumental in bringing it all together.
Paul, who has been at the Bourne for 12 years, said: “I am delighted that so many students, staff and local businesses have taken part: Mount Noddy do a fantastic job in caring for animals.”
“The enthusiasm of our students in helping others is so encouraging – they love a challenge and they come up with great ideas.”
Mrs Eva, headteacher said: “One of the most rewarding aspects of leading Bourne is to see staff and students making a positive difference in their communities.
“I am exceedingly proud of our school community. We are most grateful to local Southbourne stores – Tesco, Southbourne Co-op, Adriana’s and the Southbourne Farm Shop who actively helped us raise funds in our determination to help Mount Noddy.”
Chair of Mount Noddy, Keith O’Dell, thanked the students at the assembly for their support.
