Two wins and plenty of good football have delighted Midhurst’s supporters.
They saw another three points added to their total with an entertaining home 3-2 victory over Little Common to boost their Sussex League second-division survival hopes.
Manager Trevour Waller had another three new players available to him while Micheal Asare, fresh from his debut hat-trick the previous week, was out to impress again.
Asare twice went close early on and visiting keeper Jon Saunders had to be at his best to prevent a goal.
Midhurst were looking good and 35 minutes had passed when Asare (pictured) broke clear of his marker and planted the ball well clear of Saunders.
As half-time approached Asare outran the visitors’ central defenders and rounded the keeper to plant the ball in the net.
Midhurst had Paul Williamson back in goal and he made several saves in quick succesion.
Just over an hour had passed when Ollie Pearce replaced Ollie Rowland. The game was being played in good spirit and it was accidental when Little Common’s Chris Lister took a heavy knock.
Only a good save by Williamson prevented Little Common from reducing the deficit.
Asare took a knock and was substituted by Nathan Castleton.
Midhurst took their foot off the gas and the last ten minutes saw Linton Rogers score for Little Common. Pearce made things more comfortable by netting to make the score 3-1 in Midhurst’s favour, then Dom Cruttendon again reduced the deficit to one goal – and Midhurst were to hear the whistle signal another three points.
This Saturday Midhurst are home to Eastbourne United (2.30pm).
The second XI, who have no game this week, lost 1-0 at Storrington last Saturday.
