DRIVERS are being warned to expect some delays on the roads this coming Sunday (February 5) when the 21st Chichester Priory 10K takes place.
Organisers said potential problems were likely in the north-east area of the city, especially around Oaklands Way, Northgate roundabout, College Lane, Summersdale Road, Westhampnett roundabout, Lavant village and Broyle Road.
Delays are expected to last for less than an hour.
Organisers said the delays happened only once a year and provided a means to raise valuable funds for a range of charities, and they asked for people’s patience and understanding.
The race will start at 10.30am in College Lane, heading towards Summersdale.
The Northgate roundabout will be seriously affected between 10.25am-10.35am. as will the eastern section of Oaklands Way.
Car parking in the festival theatre car park will be much busier than usual.
From 10am-10.40am College Lane will be closed to traffic in both directions and there will be restrictions on Wellington Road and Summersdale Road. Motorists are advised to use the Broadway into town.
Spitalfield Lane will have very limited access to eastbound traffic from 10.25am until about 10.35am and motorists are advised to use alternative routes in and out of the city.
New Road, (Lavant Straight) will be closed to traffic up to the junction with East Lavant from 10.40am-11.20am. Motorists for East Lavant should use the road from Kennel gates.
Through traffic may find it preferable to go to Singleton and join the Midhurst Road, especially between 10.30am-11.30am.
Access to East Lavant Village will be severely restricted between these times.
