STORIES surrounding the early days of Fishbourne Roman Palace and Garden will be uncovered during a Museums at Night event.

As dusk falls on Saturday, May 18, guides at the palace will tell the story of the dawn of Fishbourne Roman Palace, one of the largest and most luxurious homes in the Roman Empire.

Visitors can enjoy a cup of Mulsum, a traditional Roman drink, and a sweet wine cake. Guides will then take them on a tour, lit by the flickering light of oil lamps, to allow them to find out more about the origins of the site.

The event will take place from 7pm to 9pm.

Museum director Jaane Rowehl said: “This event will be a rare treat for anyone who wants to see the palace after-hours, as night falls. It promises to be a unique and atmospheric evening.”

There will be limited spaces so pre-booking is essential either by telephone 01243 785859 or emailing {mailto:palacebookings@sussexpast.co.uk|palacebookings@sussexpast.co.uk}.
