Pagham had a lacklustre draw at Crowborough - but are looking to clinch third place in front of a big crowd with a free-admission open day for the final game of the season this Saturday.

Neither team played well at Crowborough and Lions boss John Price said it ‘wasn’t a great day’.

The Lions’ James Temple was the only player to come close for either side. His six-yard strike with five minutes left was the best chance of the match but he was unable to convert it.

Price said: “It was a very poor match with few chances for either side.

“We’re very pleased with the season we’ve had - we had a poor start to the season but after Christmas we were as good as anyone.”

The Lions look set to finish third in division one and can confirm it with victory over Hassocks.

Price said: “Hassocks have a good team and they always work hard - the boys know they have to work hard this weekend to get the result.”

The club are offering free entry to the game and at half-time there will be a penalty shootout with Lions chairman Brent Williams going in goal.

Barnham Trojans will have their under-tens acting as ball boys for the day and they’ll also take part in the shootout.

Price said: “We’re hoping to get as many people into the ground as possible. The day’s football will be shown in the clubhouse for people to watch and there’ll be various refreshments on offer during the day.”
