POLICE are seeking to identify a large quantity of jewellery, clocks, silverware and similar items, seized from a shop in Chichester.

Officers from the Chichester Neighbourhood Policing Team executed a search warrant on Saturday, April 6 at Ebony Jewellers in South Street looking for suspected stolen property.

Most of the stock of the shop was seized during Saturday and Sunday, and is being examined in order to establish where it has come from.

There are more than 1000 items, with an estimated potential total value of between a quarter of a million and half a million pounds.

No arrests have been made at this stage and police are continuing their investigations.

As part of the investigation police have now set up a special website with photos of all the items on display.

Items can be viewed on the website by visiting {http://property.sussex-police.co.uk/recovered-items/emerald|

Sergeant Jason Vickers said: “We like to re-unite owners with their property wherever possible and are inviting anyone who has been burgled in Central and West Sussex, East Hampshire or South West Surrey in the past 12 months to log on and have a look. If you think some of it may belong to you, please call us at Sussex Police via 101 quoting Operation Emerald or Serial 0439 of 8/4.”
