PHASE five of the Graylingwell housing development is set to go before planners later this year.
An application for 35 homes has been submitted to Chichester District Council.
Linden Downland LLP has submitted the plan which also includes 51 off-road parking spaces and 14 private car parking spaces.
The project is a partnership between Linden Homes, Affinity Sutton and the Homes and Communities Agency which will eventually see the 85-acre site on the redundant Graylingwell Park provide 750 eco-friendly houses.
The project is the UK’s largest carbon neutral development and will include 40 per cent social housing. In a planning statement, John Thompson architects said they held talks with around 400 local people to ensure the houses would fit in with the surrounding area.
Phase five would include 26 new build houses - 10 three-bedroom, 14 four-bedroom and two five-bedroom - and nine conversions - four one-bedroom flats, three two-bedroom flats and two studio flats.
The full plans, number 13/00837/REM, can be viewed online at {http://www.chichester.gov.uk|www.chichester.gov.uk}.
Graylingwell Park dates back to the 17th century and was once home to Black Beauty author Anna Sewell before being converted into a psychiatric hospital. The site continued to serve the community until it was fully closed in 2003.
