In light of Mother’s Day approaching, a plea has gone out for more people to come forward.

John Canning, the NHS blood and transplant’s lead donor relations manager for the Surrey and Sussex area, said: “During this month we would like people to think about not only their own mother, but also the mothers and families they can help with their blood donation.

“We have made it through the winter months due to the dedication of our existing blood donors, but the need for blood doesn’t stop and we still need donors to come forward throughout the year.”
