CONCERNED Birdham residents are worried the effort put into the neighbourhood planning process will be wasted.

Resident Clive Barrington, spoke out on behalf of Birdham residents.

“There are two planning applications likely to be heard in the February planning committee,” he said.

“It will mean an additional 76 homes will be built in the next two to three years.

“Too much, too soon and no consultation with the local community.

“We reserve our rights to have a say in the future development of the area,” Mr Barrington added.

The village’s neighbourhood plan has not been completed.

In a letter to MP Andrew Tyrie, Amanda Jobling, director of home and community at Chichester District Council said in the absence of an adopted plan, any applications will be assessed against a policy called Facilitating Appropriate Development.
