FLOOD warnings have been issued for Bosham and Emsworth by the Environment Agency this morning (December 20).
Emsworth’s flood warning was iddued at 1am, for The West Brook, including Bridge Road, Victoria Road and St James Road.
Heavy rain overnight will continue throughout the day. Up to 30mm of rain is expected over the next 12 hours so the alert will stay in place until 7pm.
Bosham received a warning at 4am, for The Bosham Stream, including the Old Bosham Ditch, Shore Road, and Churchfield Stream.
An Environment Agency statement said: “In the last 12 hours we have seen heavy rain on already saturated catchments in the Bosham Area. We have been monitoring the area throughout the night and clearing grills as necessary.
“However, the response in the river has still been fairly rapid and with further heavy rainfall forecast over the next 12 hours a flood warning is being issued for the Bosham area. We would expect the river to be out of bank around the Mill Stream Hotel and Brook Avenue, and possibly Critchfield Road.
“This is likely to be affected by high tide at 4am, and levels should start to drop off once high tide has passed. We will continue to monitor the situation and update this message as appropriate.”
