Guy Whittingham revealed his delight as the Pompey Supporters Trust took another step towards their takeover.
The caretaker Blues boss was kept informed of events as the Trust held their press conference at Fratton Park to announce their conditional agreement with the club’s administrators over the sale of the club.
Whittingham said: ’I’m delighted, obviously.
‘We’ve been wanting to come out of this situation for a long time now.
‘It’s great news and it’s great news that it’s the PST as well.’
Whittingham has already got one eye on the January transfer window and his recruitment policy.
But with his squad signed on monthly contracts up until only the January window he is keen to start putting plans in place and lining up potential transfer targets as soon as possible.
He said: ‘We hope it all gets done soon.
‘We’ve got January round the corner and we want to make sure it’s done for then.
‘It will give us the best chance to get players in and out.
‘We’ve got to plan for it.
‘We can’t plan that everyone’s going to stay here.
‘Whether we want them or whether they want to go, that’s the situation we are in.
‘So there’s a lot of sorting out to do and we need to know where we are.’
