A former Chichester University art student is showcasing her work in an Olympic-themed exhibition.

Portrait artist Hannah Hopkins from Rustington graduated from Chichester Universty in 2010 after studying fine art and has been selected to showcase her portraits of sporting stars at an exhibition in London. 20:12 opened at the end of July and celebrates British art and sport to coincide with the Olympics.

The 25-year-old was hand-picked by art agency and gallery DegreeArt.com while she was still at university and has joined 12 other artists to showcase her portraits.

“It’s just a bit overwhelming – in the two years since I finished I have come such a long way and for my technique to have reached this point, it’s a big achievement,” said Hannah.

Among the highlights of the exhibition was the chance for Hannah to meet famous gymnast Jocelyn Hunt and take photographs of her to paint from.

“Being asked to paint Christina Ohuruogu was a real eye opener for me – she was really nice and it was great to see her train and take pictures to work from,” added Hannah.

Hannah, who has ME (Myalgic encephalomyelitis) is unable to become professional because of her health.

“It is a huge achievement for me. I can paint only small parts at a time before I need to rest. My painting is something that gives me motivation and gives me something to aim for,” added Hannah.

The exhibition is running in Vyner Street in London until September 26.
