Fontwell Park’s new general manager. Tracy Skinner, is ready to take the reins for a busy late summer of jump racing – starting with one of the track’s biggest meetings of the year.
She has joined the team at Fontwell Park having worked for Northern Racing for over four years. The 36-year-old was previously at Newcastle racecourse as commercial manager.
Having delivered the Northumberland Plate and Fighting Fifth Hurdle, as well as numerous concerts, sports events and private parties, she is looking forward to further developing the range of events offered at Fontwell Park.
She said: “I am delighted to be continuing my career with Northern Racing having thoroughly enjoyed my time at Newcastle.
“The development at Fontwell Park since Northern Racing bought the track in 2002 lends itself to growing our feature fixtures such as Ladies’ Evening, the October Festival and Boxing Day as well as maximising the tremendous opportunity for other events throughout the year.”
More than £8m has been spent improving the facilities including the opening of the £6.5m 888sport Premier Grandstand in 2010.
Tracy replaces Holly Glover, who was headhunted by the FA in early June to be the commercial manager at St George’s Park, their new home of football development.
Her first race meeting at the helm is next Thursday’s Ladies’ Evening.
Attractions include a best-dressed lady competition with the winner getting a £2,000 cash prize, hospitality for two at Fontwell’s August 30 meeting, a bottle of champagne and a treatment package at contest sponsor Q Hair & Beauty worth more than £150.
There are still tickets available for Ladies’ Evening – a Grandstand & Paddock admission ticket is £15 in advance, Premier Enclosure £20.
